This link should take you to my 10 minute interview that aired Sunday night 4/27/14 with Barbara Gray on Around Cincinnnati, a weekly radio show featuring many unique cultural stories about the arts, music, literature, gardening and more.
I really appreciate having the opportunity to talk about my life in papermaking and my current projects. Hope you will take time to listen and let me know what you think! Barbara did an excellent job of interviewing me.
Stu and I hung my show featuring 18 handmade paper collages at Ruth’s Parkside Cafe in Northside yesterday and I feel it adds a lot of life to a very beautiful space. Since my art work in this show features many portraits in paper, it is a bit like seeing my imaginary family pictures on the walls. I am familiar with them all but wonder what others will think?
I will be having a special opening on Sunday May 18, from 3-5pm that you are all invited to attend. Ruth’s is closed for meals on Sunday’s so it will be open for a light reception in honor of my exhibition. The exhibit will continue through Saturday, June 28.
You are invited to our 19th annual Studio Collection sale this Saturday 10/23/13 from 10am – 4pm to see this fun and exciting show.
Hope you can all come and support local artists whose artworks are perfect for unique, memorable gifts for the holidays. For more information about individual artists check us out on Facebook : Studio Collection or this recent article in the Sunday Enquirer.

Registration for my one day workshop Collage with Hand Papermaking this spring at the Art Academy of Cincinnati is underway. This one-day workshop will introduce students to the process of making their own paper by hand and incorporating collage elements such as photocopies, dried flowers, threads, and fabrics into the paper to create uniquely personal papers of their own design. If you or someone you know is interested now is the time to register by clicking on link below.
For those of you who were not able to make the opening, you are welcome to join me at Pulp Art at the Carnegie Art Center this Saturday, 1/19/12 at 1pm where I will be to talk about my work and and what I know about other’s in the exhibition. It is an exciting exhibition with every gallery devoted to art expressed through the use of paper.
My figurative handmade paper and fabric collages are in the Beverly Semmens Gallery on the 2nd floor and I have a very fun installation piece on the landing next to the gallery featuring 400 (4″ x 6″) different novelty papers that I have made over the past 28 years of making paper. Whenever I would cut up an 18″ x 24″ sheet of paper to make my notecards I would save one 4″ x 6″ piece for my archives. There are still more at my studio but this will give you an idea of the possibilities of making paper by hand.
My figurative images are inspired by many things- the loss of a sister, dear friends, careers of circus performers, migrant workers, rainbow over NYC after hurricane Sandy, and Emilie whose father’s story of how she would light up the room touched many hearts. I will talk about the stories I was thinking about when making these collages.
Share this, bring a friend, hope to see you there.
